"Project Faith Academy is an initiative under Project Faith, officially launched by Rev. Dr. Lalchungnunga on July 5, 2024. The academy aims to promote healthy behaviors among adolescents, particularly in the context of cancer, through recreational classes in Music, Art, and Life Skills. This initiative is supported by the Youth Involve Project, Bosco Institute, Jorhat, Assam.
The idea of Project Faith Academy emerged from a ground study on cancer awareness and health behaviors among adolescents in the context of cancer. The study revealed that adolescents found existing awareness programs in schools and other settings to be tedious and difficult to comprehend, failing to leave a lasting impact. Furthermore, the one-time nature of these programs without proper follow-up contributed to the lack of impact.
In response, we conceived the idea of using music and art classes as a medium for cancer awareness and prevention interventions. This approach will provide a longer, more creative, and engaging experience for adolescents to learn new skills while receiving cancer intervention. Additionally, this initiative will create part-time job opportunities for artistic and musically gifted youths.
The art class is designed to culminate in an annual exhibition, with proceeds donated to cancer care."
